The Circadia chemical peel at Laser and Skincare MedSpa in Red Deer is superior to chemical peels available over the counter. Circadia chemical peels comprise four active alpha-hydroxyl acids (AHA) with elevated levels of mandelic acid to provide maximum benefits for cosmetic rejuvenation – due to the potency of the treatment it is available only through a physician. In contrast, store-bought or spa brands neutralize, or chemically alter their products to the point where the acid is no longer effective for skin rejuvenation. In general, the results achieved from store-bought products are mainly due to the treatments’ continual moisturization and the addition of amino acids; very little of the efficacious acid cited on product labels actually gets into your skin.

The Circadia Peel contains:

7% Lactic Acid
7% Salicylic Acid
7% Resorcinal Acid
9% Mandelic Acid

Laser and Skincare MedSpa previously offered Jessner Peels and Vitalize Peels, but we have switched to offering Circadia Peels because they offer the added benefit of the additional AHA Mandelic Acid (an active ingredient).

Mandelic acid is a type of alpha-hydroxyl acid (AHA) extracted from bitter almond and wild cherry. It penetrates the skin’s surface and loosens the top layer of dull, damaged skin cells. Mandelic acid is an aromatic AHA and its molecular size is smaller than any other aromatic AHA, making it the most effective in skincare products. Its size is smaller than that of glycolic acid, the most popular AHA in skin care, which means that it is much less of an irritant compared to other peels.

What is a Circadia (mandelic) chemical peel?

A peel is the process of applying a high concentration of serums to your skin to remove dead skin cells. You may experience a tingling sensation, or slight stinging that can last several minutes.

How does a Circadia chemical peel benefit my skin?

The immediate result is that your skin feels softer. A series of peels, used over weeks or months, along with a daily skin care regime, sloughs away the top layer of dead skin cells (stimulating cell turnover) to reveal fresher healthier skin.

How soon will I notice results from my peel?

You will feel an improvement in your skin in as little as one week. As the treatment progresses, you will notice a difference in the overall appearance of your skin – it will be brighter, fresher and softer.

How long does the peel program last?

The acne peel program can be a long-term series of peels given every two weeks or three weeks until the skin has cleared. The anti-aging program is customized to the patient’s requirements. The length of the program and frequency of visits will, however, be determined by you and the doctor.

Can men benefit from Circadia peels?

Men can also enjoy the many benefits of chemical peels, including healthier skin and the exfoliation of dead skin cells to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, the Circadia chemical peel can help minimize blackheads, and signs of razor bump and shaving irritation.

Can teens benefit from peels?

Many teens with acne-prone skin routinely have Circadia chemical peels to help control oil and bacterial build-up as well as to increase exfoliation for a dramatically improved appearance in complexion.
